With a built-up area of 3,600 sqm, the two-storey campus will be four times as large as an an average childcare centre. The School4Kidz at Sengkang Riverside Park is the 2nd largest childcare in Singapore. The facility is located in the lush Sengkang Riverside Park, a constructed wetland with the Punggol Riverside Park which is home to plenty of aqua and fauna.

The children can also embark on a educational journey to explore the fruit trees planted around the park. Besides common edible fruits such as starfruit, chiku and dragon fruit, the children may even discover exotic fruits that cannot be found in local stalls and supermarkets.

Apart from that, playing outdoors builds confidence in kids. The way that kids play in nature has a lot less structure than most types of indoor play. There are infinite ways to interact with outdoor environments.

The unique architectural concept of the campus has deep symbolic significance on how nature and education come together. From afar, the building emerges as a ‘rolling hill’ in a park that seamlessly blends into the environment, as if the campus is rising from the park grounds. The building also symbolises a cocoon-like space that provides a truly nurturing environment.

On the side of sustainable building design, an Envelope Thermal Transfer Value for the facility was calculated. It takes into consideration the heat conducted through opaque walls and glass windows as well as solar radiation through glass windows. 

These three components of heat input are averaged over the whole envelope of the building. For the purpose of energy conservation, the maximum permissible ETTV has been set to 50W/m2.
