A number of design changes to our Echo Coping Block and metal cap were added that we considered vital. We have separated the roof system from the coping cap assembly. Overhanging the wall by 1-1/2” maximum and 1/2” minimum compensates for wall irregularities and variable finished wall thickness. Echo Coping Blocks are standardized from 8” to 24” wide, in 2” increments and all with a built-in slope. Program the standardized blocks into your metal brake once and forget it. Standardization was needed to significantly reduce the cost and complexity of making and installing coping cap blocking and metal caps.
Pressure-treated lumber is expensive, chemically treated, it burns, bugs still like it, eventually rots and requires hundreds of millions of trees every year. Echo Edge and Echo Coping blocks replace the need for wood blocking in roofing entirely! It’s faster, therefore cheaper and recycles hundreds of millions of tires as our raw material. Our Echo block and the Coping metal are attached with AH-160, Tile Foam adhesive in 1-1/2” robins at 6” OC. Approved for wood, steel or concrete parapet wall. Save money and trees while recycling millions of old tires.
No fasteners used to attach Coping metal. 6” OC bead of AH-160, tile foam adhesive provides maximum uplift even on 24” wide coping (-267 psf for 24”). ES-1 Certified up to 24” as well. Traditional coping cap designs include the roof membrane up and over the wood blocking followed by clip and cap fasteners that puncture the waterproof seal. When a wind event blows off the wood blocking and coping cap, the roof system goes along for the ride. ECHO COPING BLOCK is separated from the roofing system by our built-in overhang so all roofing membranes are attached to the wall.
Coping Cap joint covers installed in just seconds. Coping cap metal is now standardized so it’s a perfect fit every time. Because of the wall overhang being 1/2” minimum and 1 1/2”max, there is flexibility based on how straight the wall is. For example, a very straight and well built wall that is 9” wide can utilize a 10” coping. If the wall is not so perfect, you have the freedom to use a 12” Echo Block. Ease of termination of the wall and roofing system under the Echo Block overhang. Ease of installation as Echo Coping Blocks are only two foot long. No longer do you have to struggle with full 10’ pieces of heavy lumber on the wall of a roof.
No exposed fasteners with Echo Coping Block and Cap Metal as well as Echo Edge. In fact there are no fasteners whatsoever as the entire assembly adhered with AH-160 tile foam adhesive. Clean look, no drilling or expensive fasteners. Healthier as well as breathing the dust from silica is a significant health hazard that is removed.
Echo Block has been tested and approved as a Class A, fire rated product at unlimited slope. In the UL report it also states that any roofing material that is already tested as Class A over concrete, is also approved on Echo Block without additional testing. Echo Edge and Echo Coping are simply Echo Block in different sizes.
